Summer Recipes with Duncan Hines
July 13, 2010Although the 4th of july has already passed, a flag cake would make a fun dessert for any summer party.
- 1 pkg Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe Classic White Cake Mix
- 1 3 oz pkg red flavor gelatin
- 1 8 oz container whipped topping
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 pint strawberries
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup miniature marshmallows
- aluminum foil/fancy foil – color of your choice
- star shaped stickers
- miniature American candy flags
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 °F. Grease and flour a 13×9-inch pan.
- Prepare, bake and cool cake according to package directions.
- Use a large fork to make holes in the cake about every 1/2-inch.
- Pour gelatin into a large bowl. Add boiling water and mix until gelatin is completely dissolved. Stir in cold water. Pour gelatin over the cake allowing it to run into the holes.
- Refrigerate cake for 3 to 4 hours before serving.
- Cover a cake tray with aluminum foil then place on tray to decorate.
- Frost the sides and top with whipped topping. Then arrange strawberries, blueberries and marshmallows on the cake to create a ‘stars & stripes’ pattern. Use the blueberries to create a blue background in the upper left hand corner.
- Take your foil stars and miniature American flags and decorate the sides of the cake. Once you have finished decorating the cake, place in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve it.
****I think this flag is so cute, i love that the recipe uses fruit instead of a lot of candy. I didn’t get to finish the entire cake, due to lack of products needed, but it was ok. Marshmallows and fruit don’t really go together, but it tasted sweet.

Summer Recipes with Finlandia Cheese
July 13, 2010Here is a recipe with Finlandia Cheese just in time for summer.
A little about Finlandia Cheese-Finlandia cheeses are imported, with over 150 years experience Finlandia creates expertly crafted, delicious tasting cheeses that are rich, robust and full of flavor. Finlandia cheeses are also all natural, lactose free, and hormone free.
The Ultimate Cheeseburger
- 1 1/4 pounds of ground beef
- 1 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 3 tbsp ketchup
- 1tbsp prepared horseradish
- 2 tsp prepared mustard
- salt and pepper to taste
- Finlandia Cheese(Swiss. Muenster or Gouda)
- 4 sesame seed buns or hard rolls
Combine lean ground beef with onion, ketchup, horseradish, mustard, salt and pepper. Gently mix with hands till all ingredients are blended. Shape into 4 patties about 1/2 inch thick. Grill or broil until desired doneness. Pile high with your favorite Finlandia cheeses.
****This recipe was good. I have never had aged cheese or imported cheese. I had never even heard of Finlandia cheese before. The problem I had was none of the Finlandia cheese i found was lactose free, they all said contains milk in them.

The Backyardigans: Operation Elephant Drop Review
July 13, 2010Product description: Go wild with delivery agents Pablo and Tyrone as they try to bring an elephant to a wildlife sanctuary in India.
This DVD contaibs 4 new to DVD episodes
- Elephant on the Run
- The Magic Skateboard
- The Flipper!
- Super Team Awesome!
****This dvd was exciting at first, but my kids just seemed very uninterested. The backyardigans are becoming kindof predictable, you know what’s going to happen. The most fun parts for them was the animals, they loved watching the elephant being delivered to India.

Barilla Share The Table
July 12, 2010Everyone in our house has a busy life. weather it’s work, chores, school, running around. I find that most of the time, I am at the the table alone, or at least with my youngest child. I really like when we all sit at the table together, and talk about each others day.
Barilla launched “Share the Table,” a program aimed at empowering families to make the most of dinnertime. In it’s second year running, www.sharethetable.com has a new look and great new recipes from Chef’s like Mario Batali, plus there are tips on how to get your family back to the table. Barilla has even started a sweepstakes, called “Pasta Friday”, with great giveaways of pasta and pasta sauce. They also have launched the Mealtime Moments Contest, which gives families who commit to enhancing mealtime the opportunity to share their stories and win select prizes throughout the summer.
You can help donate a $1 to the Meals On Wheels Asscociation, by visiting www.sharethetable.com and become a fan of Meaningful Meals.
I was able to try the Mezzi Rigatoni with Lentils recipe, It was very good and kid friendly my kids loved it. We chose this recipe because there is no cheese.
“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Barilla and received products necessary to facilitate my candid review.”

so funny to just open my camera and see these!
