What To Expect When Expecting Giveaway open To US and Canada Closed

November 15, 2011

When I was pregnant with my first child, I was totally lost on everything. We lived so far from everyone in my family, I could only ask for advice over the phone. So I turned to books, What to Expect When you’re expecting was a great guide. I felt like I was learning everything to be prepared for my daughters birth.

Then when my daughter was born it was an extreme challenge, because my husband was deployed to Iraq. I was all on my own raising a baby for a year. What to expect the first year really helped me understand, why she was doing certain things and when to start on solids etc.   I felt that I got all the information that I needed.

Then of course I moved on to What to expect the second year, but by that time I had an almost 2-year-old and a baby.  It was a great book to help me explain to her, about a new baby in the house.

The great people at What To Expect When Your Expecting is offering A lucky US or Canada reader.

Holiday Gift Guide: Become A Builder With Lincoln Logs

November 14, 2011

Go back in time with these real wood building logs and create a frontier fort! These familiar notched logs and accessories are made to fit together, allowing kids to build any kind of structure they can imagine.

****I have never played with Lincoln Logs until I received this set. Honestly I thought they were going to be like regular K’Nex and stick together when attached. These do not attach at all, and fall apart very easily.  My 6 year old daughter gets very frustrated at how easily these just fall apart. I listened every 5 minutes for ahhh darn it. Finally I stepped in and put it together. I have to say that it is a little difficult to put together, since it doesn’t stick. I finally got it put together right and the kids went to play, and of course it fell immediately.  So my son has been using these to build log cars.

Retail: $25.99 but you can find at Walmart for $15.54

My Black Friday Plan

November 13, 2011

Now that some Black Friday ads have been leaked, I have put together my plan for Black Friday.  Now we are very low budget, so I usually only shop like Walmart, Target, and K Mart.

This Christmas will be totally different for my family, We are limiting toys as gifts (may even completely eliminate them), if my kids don’t behave.   We are focusing on essentials such as clothes, household items, educational items, etc.

So my black friday plan is very simple

10PM Walmart:

  • Disney Storybook Collections $5
  • Character PJ’s for kids $4.47
  • Character short sleeve shirts $2.97
  • Lei Jeans for Women $9.97
  • Hanes Socks and underwear $4.97
  • Waffle Maker $2.84
12 AM Target:    Target is already off my list for black friday shopping
  • 4 leapster Games $14.99 each
  • iCarly Wii game $5
5 Am K Mart:
  • Womans Boots 50% off
  • Babies character tees $4.99
  • Babies Sweats $2.99
  • Memory Card 4GB $4.99
Thats my plan though it can change at anytime.   It may seem a little crazy, (and my hubby thinks it is) but after this my christmas shopping is complete.

Holiday Gift Guide: Nickelodeon Holiday Ornaments

November 11, 2011

Holiday ornaments from the Kurt Adler Collection for your favorite Nickelodeon shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Ni-Hao, Kai-lan, and iCarly. Ornaments come ready-to-hang with a gold cord.

****  My kids love Nickelodeon and asked if they could decorate the tree with all there toys. I suggested that maybe we could find ornaments that resemble their toys. When I came across Dora, Kai-Lan, SpongeBob and more. My tree isn’t up yet, but the kids are already excited about putting these on the tree.

The Dora ornaments are flat and really small, while the kai-lan ornaments are small, but are to flat at all. They fit the character descriptions perfectly. The SpongeBob ornament is really big and perfect play size. The only downside to having these is my kids won’t ever leave them on the tree, they can’t stop playing with them.

Retail:$2.95-$5.00
