Holiday Gift Guide: Leapfrog LeapPad Explorer

December 23, 2011

Leapfrog’s Leappad is a learning tablet just for kids. With a built-in camera, and a library of 100+ cartridge games and activities*, the durable LeapPad features innovative apps that inspire creativity and turn reading into fun and games. It’s a new way to learn, a new way to play – a new way to unlock your child’s potential!

It is the #1 selling kids electronic this Christmas season selling out nationwide.

When I first received this, I immediately fell in love with it. If I didn’t have to fight my son for it I would keep it myself. I don’t own a iPad so this was totally new to me. One of my favorite games I played with my son was the train game. You have to fix the tracks the right way to make sure the train goes the right way.

The camera is a fun feature, but my kids have been using it way to much. They walk around just snapping pictures of everything and making them their own with features. I took a picture of my son and then we started having fun with it. We moved to his nose to make it a long point.

Now the only problem I have is I have one Leappad and 3 kids, even though we do have 2 Leapster Explorers. The Leappad is so much more cooler than a Leapster according to my daughter.

Holiday Gift Guide: Barbie A Perfect Christmas

December 22, 2011

Join Barbie and her sisters Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea  as their holiday vacation plans turn into a most unexpected adventure and heartwarming lesson. After a snowstorm diverts their plane, the girls find themselves far from their New York destination and their holiday dreams. Now stranded at a remote inn in the tiny town of Tannenbaum, the sisters are welcomed by new friends and magical experiences. In appreciation for the wonderful hospitality they receive, they use their musical talents to put on a performance for the whole town. Barbie and her sisters realize the joy of being together is what really makes A Perfect Christmas.

****This Barbie movie is a lot different than all of the other Barbie movies. First the movie features all of Barbie’s sisters. Even though I know she has more than that. Baby sister Kelly?  The voice of Barbie is not the same and she even looks different in this movie. She looks like a adult in this movie, and is even kind of a mother figure in the movie.  Besides all that the movie was a very good, teaching the kids that Christmas is all about family rather than just toys.   I wouldn’t say this was my favorite Barbie movie so far, but my kids enjoyed it.

The next Barbie movie lined up for Spring is Barbie In A Mermaid Tale part 2, we loved the first one so I hope this one is good.

Make A New Friend For The Holidays Review and GiveawayClosed

December 9, 2011

We were only introduced to Build A Bear Workshop a few years ago and already my kids can’t get enough of it. Everytime they see a new character bear they have to have it. The most fun part for them though is actually getting to make and dress the animal themselves.

Build A Bear Workshop has so many fun and exciting opportunities going on around the Holiday Season.

  • Now through December 31, you can visit www.Bearville.com to check out the North Pole! Play new games, get virtual gifts and more.
  • All through December you can make a $1 donation to support Toys for Tots at checkout, in store or online.
We were able to check out the new Erik from Happy Feet 2, my kids have been talking about him for a while. When we received him, my kids were just so thrilled. I decided to add a Santa suit to him just for the holidays.  The first thing my kids found out was his bow-tie lights up.  They just can’t get enough of this little guy.
Another great opportunity I had was at checkout I was asked if I wanted at add a Make a wish Teddy for $5 more and a $10 Build A Bear Workshop Gift Card for $5. I had to say yes to both.
The gift card will have to wait until Victoria Justice bear comes out.
The Make A Wish Teddy deal is over but you can still get a $10 gift card for $5.

Erik retails for $23

It was a Fancy Nancy dream

December 5, 2011

Yesterday we all bundled up and headed into New York City for a special event, a book reading and signing from Jane O’Conner. Jane is the author of the Fancy Nancy series, which my daughter absolutely loves.

Instantly my daughters started chatting away with Jane O’Conner.

I told her that McKenzie’s reading really took off when she found the Fancy Nancy series, which is the truth. she said you don’t know how much that means to me.

I even caught my daughter reading one of her Fancy Nancy books to Jane, it was so cute.

Jane O’Conner started reading her popular Christmas book, Fancy Nancy Splendiferous Christmas.  My kids loved every minute of the reading. She wasn’t just reading, she was explaining everything and acting it out.

Afterward they had books for sale and she she signed them.
Disclosure: No compensation was received at all for this post. I was invited to the event,
but paid all costs myself.

Holiday Gift Guide: Big Book Of Science Experiments

December 1, 2011

This new book, with more than 100 experiments provided by Mad Science and step-by-step instructions, shows kids how simple experiments can help them better understand the world around them.
“Following the success of Super Science Book, we created Big Book of Science Experiments to offer kids a supplement to everything they love about science. Annual science fairs continue to grow in popularity. This book provides a myriad of ideas to bring science directly to your home,” said Bob Der, Editorial Director, TIME For Kids. “We filled the book with incredibly cool experiments for kids to explore in a fun, family friendly way.”

**** My husband is a scientist and is always trying to get my kids excited about science, They are so young though that it is hard to find an age appropriate experiment. Big Book of Science Experiments is full of fun and easy experiments you can try with the kids. One that my kids just loved is “Get Your Heart Pumping” you make a chart and then have your child
watch TV for 5 minutes, then record their temperature and heart rate. Play soccer for 5 minutes, then record temperature and heart rate, and last have them do jump top for 5 minutes, after you have written everything down. compare the different exercises. My kids were excited that the more they did the faster their heart would beat. Another fun one is Family resemblance, take a picture of everyone in your family then compare what people have in common. All my kids found out that they have daddy’s eyes and eyelashes.
This book has so many great experiments and information for small kids. My kids are determined to do every experiment in this book!

Holiday Gift Guide: Monster High Doll Dead Tired Frankie-Stein

November 25, 2011

Monster High Dead Tired Doll Collection: Frankie Stein is the daughter of the infamous Frankenstein. After a long week at school, the girls are “dead tired” and in need of a little rest and relaxation. Meet the coolest children of some of history’s most infamously famous Monsters. These are the trendiest ghouls at Monster High in their stylish sleepover fashions. They get together for a sleepover and some scary fun “ghoul” time. Collection includes doll with eye mask, Dead Tired outfit and accessory for the sleepover. Doll is fully articulated so they can be posed in many different ways.

**** I have never heard of Monster High until a few months ago. LOL! So this is our first official Monster High doll in the house. When I first opened the doll her arm came off and I started panicking, I thought I broke it. Soon after I realized it was meant to do that.  I did notice that a few parts were missing, the bottom of the stand for the doll was missing. Of course to my kids that did not really matter because they will be playing with her all day long. My girls love this doll!

Holiday Gift Guide: Oransi Fridge Air Purifier review and GiveawayClosed

November 24, 2011

Oransi Fridge Air Purifier cleans the air in your refrigerator, so it smells amazing.

***** One thing I am not use to since moving to New York is how fast food expires. I but ground beef and in the state of new york it’s only allowed to sell for one day. So when I grocery shop for the week I am usually freezing food to make sure it stays fresh. Same thing with fruits and veggies. I am hoping with the Oransi Fridge purifier will help with this problem. When it first arrived I was surprised at how small it is. It’s the perfect size for anywhere in the fridge. It was easy to set up and seems to be working great.

It’s been a week now and I can still smell certain things in my fridge. blah! The food seems to be staying fresh though that is a plus.

I have one Oransi Fridge Purifier to giveaway to a US reader (no p.o boxes)

Holiday Gift Guide: Snapfish Review and Giveaway Closed

November 19, 2011

I absolutely love Snapfish, they have everything you can think of. Jewlery, coffee mugs, blankets, prints and so much more.

One of the best things I love about Snapfish is how easy it is to use and all the gifts you can get. We don’t have any family within 600 miles of us, and my family is more than 2000 miles away. I am always sending pictures and customized photos gifts to them. Yes email is easier, but not everyone has a computer, plus it’s more from the heart.

This year I decided to get lots of prints to send to family of course, and since I broke my hubbys coffee mug, a new personalized one. I was going to save the coffee mug for christmas, but I felt bad about breaking the first one. I really loved the way it turned out and the fast shipping.

My next goal with Snapfish is Christmas cards!

I have a $50 gift code to Snapfish + a $20 HP Faux Canvas Credit to one lucky US reader.

You can find more about how redeem your Faux canvas credit here.
